Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, Ouarzazate
Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a 'fortified city', or ksar, along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. Ait Benhaddou is situated in Souss-Massa-Dra‚ on a hill along the Ounilla River and has kasbahs within it where a large population once lived. As a result of flooding its population fled to the other side of the river. Famous films that have been shot at Ait Benhaddou are Babel, Kingdom of Heaven, Black Hawk Down, The Mummy, Hideous Kinky and Martin Scorsese?s The Last Tempation of Christ and Kundun.
